Shelia began her journey into motherhood and launched her passion for birth in 1998 with the birth of her first daughter.  The births of two more daughters and 10 years as a La Leche League leader firmly established Shelia’s belief in the significance of a person’s labor and birth story.  This experience coupled with a master’s degree in social work led Shelia to become a doula.  Being a doula allows Shelia the wonderful opportunity to positively effect not just the birth of a baby but also of a family.  Shelia hopes that by mothering the expectant family in labor and early postpartum she can help birthing people and partners experience emotional success in birth and establish a foundation of confidence as they begin their parenting journey.

Shelia completed the Birth Doula Skills Course with Penny Simkin at Bastyr University.  She is a certified doula with DONA International and has 10 years of experience supporting families. In addition to serving clients through her private practice, she also works as an independent contractor with the Swedish Doula Program.  Shelia is a Great Starts certified Childbirth Educator and a CAPPA trained/NAPS Doulas certified Postpartum Doula.
